The D300 I was using sure doesn't control noise the way my D700 does so there was a little noise reduction needed in the sky but overall the image came out the way I remembered, and envisioned, the scene. It was the light that first hit the peak that was the star of the morning so I picked the exposure that was captured at a -1.7 EV because of the contrast. I decided to process one of the single exposures and realized right away that I need to do this more often. I'd been thinking about a revisit to this particular sunrise shoot in Grand Teton National Park because I'd never really been ecstatic with my hdr results. She stayed in the park 3 or 4 days before returning to her nesting area - all the while being fed by both parents. I parked right across the street and took this shot before visiting the park where Amazone was going about her business on the flood lights array. As I arrived close to the park Polly, her mama, was perched on this street light directly across from the baseball field. She was found perched on some baseball field flood lights just short of a kilometer in a city park. When Amazone disappeared from the nesting area several observers started searching a 1 kilometer radius (as the crow flies), in order to locate her.

So, finally, yesterday, I was able to eat there for the 1st time in my life (30 years after seeing the movie). It took sometime before I decided to go eat there but, when I got there, the restaurant was closed for summer holidays. Then, it took some years before I learned where the restaurant was located. The restaurant is located on Mount Royal Avenue, in the city's Plateau Mont-Royal borough.Īfter seeing the movie, it took several years before someone told me that La Binerie was a real restaurant. In addition to its trademark beans, the restaurant serves such traditional fare as tourtières, Pâté chinois (French for "Chinese pie"), pouding chômeur, pea soup and spruce beer. The business was purchased by new owners Jocelyne and Philippe Brunet in 2005, but largely remains unchanged. ~ etc.La Binerie Mont-Royal is a lunch counter-style restaurant in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, specializing in traditional Quebec cuisine, including its signature baked beans.įounded in 1938 by Léonide Lussier, the restaurant was the setting of Yves Beauchemin's novel and film Le Matou (1985), which was filmed on location.
